Black-White (BW) in Tarkir Dragonstorm

Today, I have managed to draft quite an aggressive black-white deck. I was not planning on drafting it because I prefer green or blue based decks in Tarkir Dragonstorm Limited. It started with taking first pick Voice of Victory. From there, I took some good removal in black and was also taking some green cards to consider Abzan as color-combination.

The first 5 games I won, even against Dragonback Assault which I was really proud of. The review is on 17lands.com. The version that I had played in the first 5 games was as follows:

Pretty straightforward and rather unusual in the current Metagame. After I had lost the 6th game due to mana issues (got screwed on a Swamp with 5-6 black cards in hand and still almost won), I tried the Abzan version which was like this:

Of course, the power level after adding the green cards is higher but I think I would still prefer the “pure” black-white version. Anyways, in the end, I went 6-3 (all on Mythic level).

What always amazes me is the fact that I started with a Mythic Ranking of well below 1200, and after going 6-3, I am just below 1300. But maybe this is usual, however, it surprises me a little bit.

I am exited to play the Magic Arena Open today, since I am well prepared, and I will probably record some games in the Sealed Deck portion at least. I have also recorded my very first draft in Tarkir Dragonstorm (went 4-3) but was hesitant to upload the video on Youtube due to lack of video quality.

Let´s hope that I open a few nice rares today and qualify for Day 2 – will keep you posted:)
